Financial Advocacy Service

15th November 2024

Our Financial Advocacy Caseworker has been busier than ever, working hard due to the impact of the cost-of-living crisis on women and families. Financial Advocacy is a part of Amina MWRC’s wider Support & Advocacy service.

Based on our cases received, poverty rates are highest among Pakistani, Bangladeshi, and Black communities, with disabled people facing an additional average monthly cost of £500. Women facing domestic violence, especially those experiencing economic abuse, struggle to leave unsafe situations, and those with no access to public funds are at high risk of destitution if they lose work or separate from a partner.

Rising living costs impact the poorest women the most due to years of benefit cuts and bearing much of the weight of household responsibilities. Lower savings, higher debt levels, and caregiving responsibilities mean women are often unable to increase paid work.

If you are struggling financial, Amina MWRC is here to help. We can support you in a number of ways:

Hardship Fund
