Jasleen Kaur wins the 2024 Turner Prize
Amina MWRC congratulations to Jasleen Kaur for winning the 2024 Turner Prize on Alter Altar in Tramway! Jasleen is an inspirational BME woman who grew up in Pollokshields, which is home to a diverse community of BME people. We applaud Jasleen for her accomplishments, and for advocating for a ceasefire in Gaza during her acceptance speech.
While some argue that arts should remain “separate” from arts & culture, Amina MWRC stands in solidarity with Jasleen Kaur. All fields are inherently, politicised and the arts are no exception. We must always stay true to our values, continuing to advocate for the basic rights of Palestinian people to live.
Congratulations once again to Jasleen – may you continue to inspire people everywhere.
