Amina MWRC’s Women’s Friendship Group is excited to announce a partnership with Sculpture Placement Group (SPG) for the Team Sculpture Programme!

This 6-week initiative offers the opportunity to deepen your understanding of sculpture, create your own artwork, and showcase a sculpture within your community. Sessions will begin with a brief discussion before diving into the planned activities.

This program is designed to be informative and creatively stimulating. Initial sessions will explore forms of sculpture with artist Aqsa Arif during three engaging workshop sessions. We will also visit Sculpture House for a hands-on workshop led by Laura Aldridge. As the programme progresses, you will gain insights into how SPG places sculptures in community settings through the SPG Loan Project.

Refreshments, transport and all necessary materials will be provided. Please specify dietary requirements.

Don’t miss this exciting opportunity – register now below!

For any questions, please email wfg@mwrc.org.uk.

Aqsa Arif is an award-winning Scottish-Pakistani artist and filmmaker based in Glasgow. She incorporates film, printmaking, photography and sculpture to construct installations in which she explores themes of dual heritage, migration and cultural dissonance.

Inspired by the textile elements in my work Marvi and the Churail, these workshops will focus on creating decorative ropes using a variety of South Asian fabrics. Participants will explore ornamental knotting techniques, drawing from the rich history of macramé, to craft a collaborative wall hanging that merges traditional craft with contemporary art.
