Palestine: 365 Days of Genocide

7th October 2024

Today marks a year since the attack on 7th October, which Israel has used to justify its genocide in Palestine. In the last 365 days, over 41,600 Palestinians have been killed and more than 96,600 injured, with thousands missing. During this time, Israel has also attacked Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen.

As Scotland’s leading women’s rights organisation for Muslim & BME women, and as an organisation aware of International Humanitarian Law, we condemn the atrocities that Israel has committed in the last year.

Gaza remains a feminist issue, with miscarriages in pregnancies increasing by 300%, women undergoing C-sections without anesthesia, little or no access for feminine hygiene, to more women being killed in this atrocity than any other.

Although the situation has gained more attention over the past year, Palestine has endured these horrors for 76 years. While the world watches, Palestinian women, men, and children lose their lives each day. We call on the UK government to ban the sale of arms to Israel and advocate for a permanent ceasefire.

We must come together to stand for everyone’s basic human right to live in their country, free of oppression.
