Track Your Spending

Small things can lead to big change. As the weather grows gloomy, try making a simple spending tracker using your platform of choice – be it a spreadsheet, word document, or even just using a pen and paper. Things to include in this are your income, and what you spend it on. This will help you to better understand where your money goes and where to save money, helping your income go a longer way to cover your essentials. A spending trackers is the single best way to better understand your finances and where they go each month!

Know Your Priorities

With the festive period right around the corner, it can be tempting to splurge on unessential items. However, you must always prioritise your essential bills. Food, rent, council tax and utilities must always take priority over other purchases and even other bills. If you or someone you know is struggling to pay such essential bills, always reach out to the relevant body to discuss financial difficulties, being transparent and realistic.

Save on Energy

Always check you are on the correct energy tariffs – price comparison websites like Money Saving Expert can help you find the best deals! A little goes a long way, so be mindful of small things that add up in the long term, like switching off plugs and lights that aren’t being used.
