
Winter 2024 Creative Well-Being Activities
Creative Well-Being Dundee host sessions at The Wellgate on Tuesdays 10am – 2pm.
Our recent activities have been full of learning, connections, and new friendships! New women have joined us from Afghanistan, Algeria, Egypt, Syria, Yemen, Bulgaria, India, and Pakistan. Tuesdays are a hub of cultural exchange and community support!
Health and Wellbeing
- Health Check Sessions – Providing essential health information.
- Bladder & Pelvic Health Workshop – Informative sessions by Dr Sadaf and Dr Shela.
- Self-Care Workshop – In collaboration with Penumbra, offering tools and strategies to maintain positive mental health.
- Weekly Walking Group – Back by popular demand, promoting both physical and social wellbeing.
Skills Share Language and Literacy
- English on the Couch – Weekly sessions aimed at building confidence in speaking English, tailored for Muslim and BME women.
- Little Readers, Mighty Leaders – A literacy workshop inspiring young minds, featuring author Maryam Yousaf.
- Write Your Story – A powerful writing workshop by Maryam Yousaf, encouraging women to unlock their creativity.
- Journal Making Workshop – In partnership with How It Felt, fostering self-expression through writing.
- Amanah Mobile Library – A Mobile Library Service for the people of Dundee.
Arts and Culture
- Candle Decorating – a relaxing activity in partnership with How It Felt
- DCA Film Viewing: No Other Land – A thought-provoking screening.
Sports and Fitness
- Basketball Programme – Delivered in partnership with Sport Scotland and Active Schools, led by sports leader Sara Naveed. Over 22 participants aged 14-26 joined the weekly sessions!
Community & Awareness
- Energy Saving Workshop – Practical advice on reducing energy bills and keeping homes warm.
- GenAnalytics Research Session – Facilitated for women over 50, contributing to Scottish Government research on ageing and its impact on BME communities.
Amina’s Creative Well-Being projects offer in-person sessions for Muslim & BME women. Creative Well-Being Dundee takes place on a Tuesday, and Women’s Friendship Group Glasgow meet on a Monday.
