Helpline’s Awareness Day 2024

Amina MWRC Helplines Awareness Day Banner

Today marks Helpline’s Awareness Day, created by the Helplines Partnership. As a member of Helplines Partnership, the Amina team works hard to provide a Free National helpline. Our Helpline is a confidential and free service available to all Muslim & BME Women in Scotland, Monday to Friday, 10 am – 4 pm. Our Helpline can be reached at 0808 801 0301, or via email at helpline@mwrc.org.uk.

This Helplines Awareness Day, in celebration of 20 years of the Amina Helpline, we’re sharing some quotes from our service users. In 2023, we took 1,975 calls, with each call averaging 20 minutes. Common helpline call topics include Islamic Advice, Mental Health, and Relationship Advice. It is an honour to provide a free Helpline to women in Scotland. We take great pride in our work and in the services that we offer.

You are so good. Light at the end of the tunnel. You couldn’t have helped any more than you have, Thank you so much.

Helpline Client

Having a listening ear helped provide support especially in a very challenging time with daughters ill health, it was really nice having someone to off load to.

Befriending Client

Please stop, you are doing too much as strangers when even my closest and dearest are not helping. You do more than what family do. Family have treated me so badly and you as strangers have taken so much care of me.

Helpline Client

It’s a privilege to be a listening ear and help someone who is going through a difficult time.
