Creative Well-Being Activities Autumn 2024

Our Dundee Creative Well-Being Programme is thrilled to have welcomed our women back for the new term! Since resuming after the summer holidays, our sessions have been a joyful mix of creativity and camaraderie, with participants diving into projects like faith-inspired tapestries, knitting, games, and more.
This post highlights some of the key sessions held in our Creative Well-Being Space in Dundee, Mondays from 10 am to 2 pm. Read on to find out about our recent sessions!
Skills Share
- Garden Decorations: Our group enjoyed decorating rocks with paints and markers. The atmosphere was vibrant, and participants shared how much they enjoyed meeting others and finding time for themselves.
- Art Sessions: Participants explored gelli plate printing and lino sheet carving, creating beautiful, colourful prints.
- Creative Wellbeing: Women enjoyed games like table tennis, pool, and air hockey, with a lot of laughter and good company.
- Unveiled Workshop – ‘How it Felt’: Final touches were put on creative pieces for an upcoming exhibition, providing a fulfilling artistic outlet.
- Faith Matters Tapestry Project: Our Participants created individual panels promoting unity, showcased during the Scottish Interfaith Week in November.
Health & Wellbeing Initiatives
- Mood & Movement: Penumbra’s interactive session on exercise and mood improvement left attendees feeling energised and informed.
- Basketball Programme: Led by Amina’s Sports Leader Sara Naveed, weekly basketball sessions encouraged physical activity, skill-building, and friendly competition.
- Health Awareness on Cardiovascular Diseases: GPs delivered an insightful session, emphasising prevention through diet and exercise, sparking positive lifestyle changes.
Arts & Culture
- Black History Month Celebration: Joined by our partners, service users, volunteers, and Glasgow team members, we hosted a Black History Month event in celebration of diversity. The event was open to all, and featured stalls by local BME entrepreneurs, including Fab Africa, Amanah Mobile Library and Pinnopal.
- LePetit Moose Workshop: A fun needle-punch workshop, followed by a tour of Claudia Martinez Garay’s art.
- Kimono Exhibition: Participants explored the history and social significance of kimonos at V&A.
- Chatterbox Show by Lubna Kerr: A delightful, humorous performance that left the women entertained and asking for more! The sessions have been packed with learning, laughter, and connection, reminding us of the power of community.
