The Employability Project, Inspiring Aspirations, offers a range of support to Muslim, Black and Minority Ethnic women across the cities of Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow, tailoring employability services to the specific needs of our client. Our project aim is to empower and support women to access, achieve and sustain paid employment, volunteering, training and learning opportunities. We do this in a number of creative, fun and interactive ways.
Amina endeavors to create a Scotland where Muslim and Minority Ethnic women have equality of opportunity across the labour market, building an inclusive society where the possibility of progression and prosperity is shared by all.
We host a range of classes across our sites. English conversation classes and ESOL provision in partnership with WEA Scotland attract a large and diverse group, with women from across the globe coming together to learn and share. Complementing English language classes, we also deliver in-house employability training covering topics such as job searching, application forms, CV creation and interview insights.
The employability project is responsive to the needs of the Muslim and Minority Ethnic women it serves. The issues raised by clients and service users form the focus of personal development workshops. Recent workshops have included; Time Management, Surviving the Scottish Workplace, Problem Solving and Assertiveness.
The employability project acts as a bridge between Muslim women and employers, facilitating a space where the two can come together for reciprocal learning. Employer engagement/workplace visits are a popular event, exposing clients and service users to new possibilities and environments as well as getting insider knowledge from employers on their recruitment process and what they look for in a stand out application. Recent workplace visits have included trips to Santander, Scottish Government and BBC Scotland.
One to One Support
We also support women through 1-1 appointments. Our women set the agenda for these meetings which are tailored to their specific need – whether that’s creating a CV or Cover Letter, job searching, applying for a College course, or even advice on starting a business. Whatever the issue, the employability team are here to help. Remember, no question is a silly question.
If this all sounds good to you, or if it sounds like the unique faith and culturally sensitive support needed for a client you are working with then please e-mail email@example.com for more information or to arrange an appointment (please remember to state which office). You can also search for future employability provision on our events page.
