Glasgow Ministerial Visit

We were delighted to be joined by the Minister for Equalities Kaukab Stewart MSP and the Minister for Victims and Community Safety Siobhian Brown MSP at the Amina MWRC office in Glasgow on 30th April. Alongside members of the Amina Team, our Volunteers, and the Scottish Parliament Team, we discussed our role in promoting a more inclusive approach towards women’s rights.

Our Ending Violence Against Women & Girls team helps to address harmful stereotypes, misogyny, and issues that adversely impact Muslim & BME women, such as extended family abuse and private image abuse. Our Helpline and Sahara Scotland Domestic Abuse Advocacy team support vulnerable victims and women with no recourse to public funds, improving community safety by helping those suffering from domestic abuse, financial abuse, hate crimes,  anti-social behaviour, and even human trafficking. We also deliver EDI training to a range of organisations, promoting a more equalities-focused approach among a number of sectors.

Thank you to the Ministers and Scottish Government team for joining us yesterday. We hope that Amina can continue making a difference for women in Scotland. To find out more about Amina MWRC and our upcoming events, follow us on Instagram. To support our work, please donate here.
